One of the mandates of the school is to develop the students’ potentials that they may be of service to the institution, family, and society. Einstein School for Kids – Cebu has its annual Young Einstein Student Council Elections commonly referred to as YESC wherein each student is given the privilege to participate and run for a position in the council. Moreover, the council aims to conduct school-wide activities, awareness on social issues, building bridges within cultures and to identify, and address social exclusion where we encourage the participation of the youth in decision-making and ways in resolving conflicts to be globally competitive.
Some projects that have been accomplished by the YES Council are the fundraising activities that enhances the students leaders with their entrepreneurial skills, the Junior High and Senior High Students Acquaintance Party that promoted camaraderie and rapport among participants and the Primary Trick or Treat Party that gave so much enjoyment and developed so much creativity among the primary level students in showcasing their various costumes. Aside from the following mentioned, the members of the YES council have still more to fulfill. Before the school year ends, the council strives to have year-ender projects such as environmental campaigns and donations for the school clubs as a part of its program to reach out to its constituents and lend a hand in supporting different goals working together with the administration and as a preparation of the schools’ athletes in participating in different district competitions that bring bread and bacon to the school such as a basketball net for the basketball club, volleyball ball for the volleyball club and shuttlecocks for the badminton club, and a printer for the high school library.
To continue the YES Council’s works, there will be a turnover of responsibility to the next school year’s YES Council. Moreover, this school year’s YES Council will see to it that their works are foreseeable in the future and will contribute a great impact not just in the school but also for our neighboring community as well.
There are many advantages to being involved in the YES Council, even as a younger student. Involvement at the lower levels has proven to be beneficial in that when students reach the higher grades, they have already experienced how meetings run and decisions are made. Student council members bring ideas, requests, and feedback to the meetings and a democratic process is used to give students a voice and make decisions in creating a year-long calendar. Student council leaders, under the supervision of a teacher or administrator, learn about the democratic process, civic responsibility, leadership, problem solving, and teamwork. The council, in partnership with the school administration, is aiming for positive relations for the implementation of the different projects that would surely enhance the capabilities and leadership skills of the young student leaders and help the school produce quality graduates with optimum level of experience and become well-rounded individuals. They also assist school authorities in designated various school activities and functions.
